Robert Nixon (late 18th century)
This Robert Nixon is the earliest member of the Nixon family I have identified.
He was probably born about 1780 but that's just a guess based on his marriage in 1799.
I have little information about him, apart from his marriage and mentions at his children's baptisms.
Robert's Marriage.
25th July 1799 Parochial Chapel of St Nicholas, Liverpool.
They were married by licence. Margaret's mother, Susannah, swore an oath that she was indeed Margaret's mother and that she consented to the marriage.
Witnesses were Elizabeth Roscoe and Constantine McGowan.
As a widow, Susannah married for a second time, by license, to Robert Smith, mariner on 1st March 1804 at St Nicholas, Liverpool.
Witnesses were Howard Smith and John McNally.
Robert's Children:
was born on 3rd May 1800 and baptised at St Nicholas parish church on 18th January 1801.
On the register, his parents are described as Robert Nixon, mariner, of Norfolk Street and Margaret Healer, his wife.
Robert Nixon
was born on 9th February 1804 and baptised on 21st March 1804 at St Peter's, Liverpool.
On the register, his parents are described as Robert Nixon, mariner, of Simpson Street (which crosses Norfolk Street) and Margaret Nixon, formerly Hulor (could be Haler).
William Nixon
was born on 17th February 1806 and baptised at St Nicholas parish church on 4th May 1806.
On the register, his parents are described as Robert Nixon, rigger, of Simpson Street (which crosses Norfolk Street) and Margaret Haylor, his wife.

He shared a grave with Elizabeth Nixon of 146, Mann Street [listed as aged 52 at burial in 1875, which would be too young to be Robert's wife.
This newspaper article from Liverpool Daily Post on 19th October 1875 confirms the correct age:
also, in the same grave, Elizabeth Day Rigby of 11, David Street, who was buried on 9th May 1907. [This must be Robert's daughter, Elizabeth who was baptised as Elizabeth Riley Nixon but reported at her death as Elizabeth 'Day' Rigby.]

Evan's wife, Mary, died in 1846 and was buried on 30th May 1846 at the Wesley Chapel, Upper Stanhope Street. By 1851, only Evan's two younger children, David and Jane, remained at home with Evan and his new wife, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth's Second Marriage:
Witnesses were Robert Beggs and Margaret Derrocott.
Harry was son of Robert Young Man Darracott (1790 - ), (sometimes Derracott), and Margaret Diamond (1808 - ).
Robert Young Man Darracott had been a naval officer, enlisting in 1805, rose through the ranks, and after spending time as a French prisoner of war, gained his commission as Lieutenant in 1815.
He was retired on half pay in 1816 and died in May 1864.
By the time of Elizabeth's marriage in 1861, Margaret and Harry Darracott had two children, Margaret (1857) and Harry (1859).

William Henry Rigby, recorded as age 50 on the death certificate, died on 30th October 1879 at the Royal Southern Hospital, Toxteth. He had suffered an "Injury to the windpipe. Accidentally struck by a broken block. Died shortly after."
An inquest held on 1st November 1879, recorded a verdict of accidental death.
William was buried in Toxteth cemetery on 3rd November 1879. PLOT Sec. 5, Grave 197

Elizabeth's Death.
She was buried on 9th May at Toxteth Park Cemetery, following an inquest held on 6th May. On the burial record she is stated as living at 11 David Street.
She shared a grave with her father, Robert Nixon, who was buried, aged 86, at Toxteth Park Cemetery on 2nd December 1890. He had been living at 295, Mill Street.
Also in the same grave is Elizabeth's mother, Elizabeth Nixon of 146, Mann Street.
